Since its opening just a mere two weeks ago, Dunkin’ Donuts has been a favorite morning commute for breakfast, coffee, and with the changing seasons, hot chocolate.
Dunkin’ Donuts is an American company and coffeehouse based in Canton, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1950 by William Rosenberg in Quincy, Massachusetts.
This restaurant chain’s menu has grown to include over 1,000 items: doughnuts, bagels, other baked goods, and a wide variety of hot and cold beverages.
Thursday October 15th was opening day for the new shop on Wooster. A Fairfax police officer was seen directing traffic out in front of Dunkin’ Donuts for the first week to help people get out of the restaurant and into traffic on Wooster. This made for a quick and easy exit for students hurrying to school.
“My first impression was that it was great and really convenient,” says Charlie Zack, a freshman who has already been to the new Dunkin’ Donuts over seven times.
Zack went on the second day after it opened, and since has gone with his family and friends both early in the morning and late at night. “I’ll go with anyone,” he says. “Just never alone.”
“So far the service has been fast and easy,” says Zack. “I like the drive-thru more, though, because its quicker.”
Kenny Bottom, a Mariemont sophomore, decided to experience the new restaurant on the first day, but not as many would assume. Bottom got up at 3:15 in the morning Thursday in order to get to Dunkin’ Donuts by 4:00 for its grand opening.
“I went by myself because nobody wanted to go with me at 4:00 in the morning,” he says.
Bottom tried to go as early as possible to try to be the first customer at Dunkin’ Donuts. “I was hoping that my dollar would be hung up on the wall,” adds Bottom. “It wasn’t.”
A large caramel ice coffee and two doughnuts later, Kenny Bottom was the first customer of the new store, and plans to go as much as possible in the future. “It is only a block away from my house, so it is easily within walking distance,” he says. “Also the prices are not bad at all.”
“As long as this Dunkin’ Donuts is open, I will always be the first customer,” concludes Bottom. “No one can take that away from me.”
