Spring Break starts on March 29th and ends on April 6th. Throughout those days, many Mariemont students will be traveling around the country, and some, around the world.

Sophomore, Zach Keith will be taking a seven-hour flight to an island right off the coast of Belize, Ambergris Caye. Although Keith has never been he has many things to look forward to.

Ambergris Caye is home to the second largest barrier reef, “I will be scuba diving in the Caribbean Sea and my main goal is to see a shark. Many would think of that as scary, but I’m a dare-devil,” Keith says.

Dare-devils do have to take breaks, Keith is also looking forward to the time where he can just sit down, relax, and bond with his family.

Not everyone gets time to relax. The Warriors baseball team will take their talents to Myrtle Beach where they will be competing in exhibition baseball games. Although they did not get to travel last year due to the OHSAA season starting later, Coach Mike Hanley emphasizes the importance of this trip for the team. “We think it gives the team a good chance to grow together and bond as teammates. It also allows us to get some games under our belt before our CHL season begins. The 75 degree weather isn’t bad either!”

Hanley wants this trip to help his players improve while having fun. “Mostly, we are excited to have fun and play baseball in nice weather!”

From nice weather to Terrace Park where freshman Anthony DiMichele will be spending his Spring Break. DiMichele does plan to make this break interesting, “I am going to spice up my Spring Break by making my daily trips around the park a little out of the ordinary, ya know? Maybe mix a few things up.”

He daydreams about being in Jamaica because he hears “the residents talk awesome” and “I heard it’s beautiful,” but he knows he will not be visiting the island this year. That does not mean he can not have fun on his own, with or without people. “Right now, I don’t know who is leaving and who is staying but if someone happens to stay home, we will probably throw parties and pretend people are there with us.”

“I’m looking forward to making my Break as exciting as it can be, just as everyone should.”
