It’s the middle of the day and Kristi is sitting in the kitchen all by herself.  Everything was going fine until… all of the cabinets fly open by themselves with a tremendous “Bang!”  She can’t help but to scream with terror and run out of the room.  This is just one of the many frightening scenes from the movie Paranormal Activity 2.

     Paranormal Activity 2 came out on October 22 and it has already made more than $41.5 million.  It has earned two times as much as the movie Jack Ass 3D. Some people like Timmy Sattergren, MHS senior, say, ”It was by far the scariest movie I’ve ever seen.”

     Paranormal Activity 2 is about a family that just moved into a new house.  Throughout the movie they have to endure many frightening and bone-chilling experiences with a demon.

     This film affects everyone who watches it and there are some who can’t help but to react to the many frightening images on the screen.  Sattergren said, “ At some point during the movie I was curled up in a ball shaking, while my friends were screaming.”

     Below are some audience reactions, much like Sattergrens, during the first L.A. showing.

     Katie Wray, MHS junior says, “I struggled to keep my eyes open and I screamed a lot. The scariest part was definitely the ending.”

     MHS senior David Finn said, “At the scariest parts, I had my jacket pulled over my head, covering everything but my eyes, and at one point I considered leaving the theater.”

     The first movie of this sci-fi horror series (Paranormal Activity) took $15,000 to produce and ended up being one of the most profitable movies ever made:  it earned $194 million.  This second film used $3 million to make and it has drawn in $67.5 million so far.

     Andrew, MHS senior, says, “Paranormal Activity 2 was definitely better than the original, it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.  I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to get freaked out.”
