Novembeard, No Shave November, or whatever you may call it can be seen throughout the halls in Mariemont High School. A majority of people have given up their grit for a variety of reasons from itchiness to funerals and senior pictures, but a few have manned up to the challenge and passed the half way point of the month.
“I’m keeping this into Decembeard then into Bearduary” says Senior Brian Austin who said he is doing it partly because of swimming and partly because people expect him to.
He awards Jack Stautberg with the best overall beard, though he had to shave because of senior pictures.
He also awarded Paulo Bezerra with the best mustache though Brian says “Paulo has been cheating. You can’t shave at all; he has been shaving his neck”
“My neck gets itchy and I like my neck silky smooth. Brian should just relax” Paulo responded.
Most people that have continued to this point enjoy the hair such as Senior Joel Beeby, though he says,
“I just don’t want to look like a mountain man” and adding, “Mountain men are scary like sasquatch.” He advises people to “keep it trimmed. Not wild.” He advises conditioner for a less itchy smooth beard.
Though other students argue that the wilder: the better.
“The goal of Novembeard is to be as Mountainous and warm as possible” says Austin. As November comes to a close and winter comes upon us Austin advices, “you don’t need a scarf, just grow a beard”.
