Vineyard Vines, Bean Boots, Rosemary, Florida, and now… Jeeps? It seems as though the popular off-road adventure vehicle has become a trend for students at Mariemont.
On one pass through the faculty, senior and junior parking lots, one can find 20 Jeeps on most days. Considering the size of Mariemont, this seems like a large number.

What sparked the popularity of the Jeep at Mariemont?
Sophomore Miller Steele, a Jeep owner, says that he likes likes his Jeep because it is versatile. “I’ve never had a problem with my Jeep, it can handle anything I throw at it,” he added.
There are two different models of Jeeps that are popular at Mariemont: the Cherokee, which is more of a standard-looking SUV, and the Wrangler which has the classic off-road army style.
Junior Drew Goheen says, “It doesn’t, matter if you are male or female, you can feel comfortable driving in a Jeep.”
Jeeps also come with a pretty decent price tag. It’s easy to find a wide variety of Jeeps costing as low as a few hundred dollars when browsing Craigslist, with the new Wranglers and Cherokees costing around $23,000.
Sophomore Abby Ewart says, “I want a Jeep so badly; it’s so much fun to put the top down in the summer.” Supporting the sporty and adventurous image that the Jeep brand has made for itself.
It appears that many people purchase their Jeeps because of their sporty facade, but in reality Jeeps, but historically they have always ranked towards the bottom of the list in terms of gas mileage as well as safety.
Sophomore, Colin Kelly says, “I think Jeeps are overrated for what they are; people just get them because they’re trendy.”
So whether students purchase their Jeeps for their off-road looks or for their versatility, it appears as though the Jeep has made its way to the top of the “Mariemont trends” all time list.
