The whistles blow, everyone out of the water, the park is now closing… FOREVER.

After twenty-seven years of business, the Beach Waterpark is shutting down. This is primarily due to financial problems. This should come as no surprise, Fox 19 explains, “The Beach Waterpark has operated at a loss during the past several years.”

For some, like junior Tate DeCamp, the closing makes a lot of sense. “I’m surprised they are just now closing, I remember a lot of fat people and little appeal,” he says.

For others, the closing comes as sad news. Senior Cassidy Hammond says, “I’ll miss the teen dance parties at Club Aqua, but the memories of when I was there with my family will live on.”

Senior Claire Foran cites the Beach as her favorite amusement park. “Nothing beats the cliff or the wave pool,” she says.

Sophomore, Keaton Crowley, is drawn to more than just the rides. “It had the best shaved ice I’ve ever had,” he says. That being said, he understands why it closed. He explains, “The lines were pretty long and there were too many little kids running around, also it was kind of redneck especially since it was next to a highway”

For those who have already bought passes, you are out of luck. The Beach staff is not refunding their customers’ money. According to the Dayton Daily News, “instead they will be recieving more than $200 in ‘alternative experiences’ at a number of area attractions.”   These include, Kings Island, Ozone Ziplines, Morgan’s Outdoor Adventures, and Dave and Busters.

The good news is the park is looking for potential buyers so that they can be up and running in the near future. The park is being maintained until the summer just in case investors arise.
