     The Holiday season is here; the Santa commercials are back on, the night-time scenery decorated with Christmas lights, Warm 98 has started spreading the musical cheer, and MHS has done the same.

     The lower library is snowed down with metallic snowflakes and a tree made of old books, complete with tinsel and decorative lights.

     Mrs. Colpi, MHS’s librarian, saw the idea last year on Facebook, and it was fate when people began sharing it with her on multiple social networks.

     “I love holiday decorations, and I worry about celebrating all the holidays, so no one feels left out, but everyone comments on the book tree,” said Colpi.

     Mr. Hanley, head of Student Council and history teacher, is in charge of setting up the foyer’s holiday decorations for a half hour after students leave for Thanksgiving break, so it is ready when they get back.

     “It’s a combination of tradition and wanting to get everyone in the holiday spirit and it is a big thing that not only Christmas is recognized, and we celebrate two major holidays,” said Hanley.

     Mrs. Douthit, who gets to see all the students come in and has a view of the holiday decor, said, “They are beautiful and we are glad to have them.”

     Mrs. Briggs, one of the science teachers, known for her extravagant Halloween decor, tries to treat all the holidays equally, and with winter break around the corner she has started to transform her room into a winter wonderland.

     “I usually decorate just before Christmas and the students love the decorations and just get really excited,” said Briggs.
