Shoes can give you a look into someone’s soul and perhaps more obviously–admitting the pun–their soles. They are a way for students to express themselves by “saying” something that other clothing articles cannot.
Junior Nick McCarthy has had these Nintendo Vans for nearly eight months. “I bought these because when I saw them, they were like a mirror. I saw myself in them,” he says. He thinks others think he is unique when they see them, and I must agree. Unfortunately, McCarthy will be retiring these shoes come winter because the are very much not waterproof.
Sophomore Tim Spaeth has had these Asics running shoes for six months. “When I put them on, I just feel excited about the upcoming day,” he says. “I picked them out because they are good running shoes and very comfortable.” He believes that when others see his shoes, they think he likes to be outdoors. He got these shoes at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Sophomore Jackson Trester has had these Nike Kyries for two months. “When I put them on, I feel confident; ready to ball at any time,” he said. “I picked them out because of the Mariemont colors.” He thinks that his shoes say that he is athletic and loves basketball.
Junior Kelsey Brown has had these Nike Roshe runs for one year. “I wear them every day, so I had to make sure they were comfortable,” she said. “My shoes say that I am athletic.” These kicks have really held up.
Junior Cassidy Bollman has had these shoes for about a year now. “I saw them and immediately knew I had to have them. I just loved the fringes,” she said. “I think my shoes say that I have a daring personality and I dare to be different,” she told me.
Senior Kai Greenberg has had these Adidas shoes since his freshman year. “I like the beat-up look that they have,” he said. “My shoes say that I’m edgy, and maybe even that I like to skate.” Greenberg has been skateboarding for multiple years. Sometimes, character in certain things comes through age.
