900 Main Street Milford, Ohio is now home to the new restaurant, Copper Blue.

Copper Blue a bar and grill was started by Margo Schwarberg and Tim Bettinson. After returning to live in her home town, Schwarberg opened Copper Blue in December of 2010 (at the old location of Yellow Rose of Texas and Constantini’s Pizza).

In order to get a glimpse into Copper Blue first hand me and a few of my fellow journalism class members took a trip there to join the dinner crowd. The full parking lot aroused some suspicions that were later confirmed when we walked through door and were greeted by the sounds of a packed house. Luckily, they easily accommodated our large group of seven at a table that allowed a full scope of the restaurant and its patrons, including the funny old man in a Hawaiian button down shirt who was a great conversation starter.
When you walk into the restaurant you are swept into a large space with dim lighting and electric colors everywhere you look. Over at the bar you’ll notice a colorful display of lava lamps set up. The interior design theme–or lack thereof, I guess one might say–is a blend of seventies and mod inspired décor.
The menu consists of a lot of classic American style cuisine incorporating soups, sandwiches, burgers, fish, and steaks into their menu. Prices were fairly reasonable ranging anywhere from $4-20. Our waitress took our order and was very helpful in modifying everything to our personal preference. Everyone at my table ordered something different, so we got a variety of opinions.
Here’s what they had to say about their meals:
“The fries were solid. I know it seems nit-picky, but their straws were way too small. They barely reached the edge of the cup.” –Joey Fening

“Chicken BLT with a side of sweet potato tater tots. This food was amazing it was mm-mm tasty. I will visit this place again soon.” –Paulo Bezerra
“Black Bean burger with fries. It was a stellar veggie burger with the classiest fries ever.” -Teddy Murphy
“I got the chicken salad. The salad was good but the chicken was not that good. Fries and cheesecake were amazing.” -Alex Swords
“Turkey BLT sandwich. It was good and the prices were decent. Overall I’d give it a B.” -George Peck

“I got a petite filet and mashed potatoes. Everything was way too salty and my food was under cooked even after I sent it back. I sound super stuck up but whatever, I was starving but they didn’t deliver. Also, the interior design made no sense and the waitresses were kind of awkward.” -Ella Henning
Personally, I ordered the Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger and a side of fries. My meal was delicious and served perfectly to my liking. I also really liked our waitress and the fact that the owner Margo, circled around the restaurant checking up on each of the customers to ensure their personal satisfaction.
Overall, Copper Blue has undeniable promise as a new business. I would encourage you to check it out for yourself however, considering the somewhat mixed reviews from my classmates. You be the judge!
