Revisiting the memories of Prom 2019

The rain and clouds parted for Mariemont’s annual Prom on Friday, April 26. The sun came out just in time for photos at the Concourse that began at 6:15 p.m.
Upperclassmen mixed and mingled, took photos, and caught up with friends and family at the Concourse.
“I took 58 photos. It was kind of overwhelming because as soon as I would take a step, someone would say, ‘do you want to take a picture?'” said senior, Ryan Scarborough.
Prom officially started at 8:00 p.m. Students began arriving at least 20 minutes early to find an open table.
Dinner service began at 8:30 p.m. and some students were unhappy with the meal provided. The menu consisted of BLT salad, pan seared chicken and passion fruit mango cheesecake.
Senior Fabricio Pedracolli said, “The food was terrible, I didn’t like it.”
Beyond the meal provided was the actual dance. The music was not bad according to some seniors.
“I thought the DJ was really good, and I feel like the DJ’s at past dances were not as good as this one,” said senior Sophia Fujimaki.

Other seniors had difficulties getting their groove on. Senior Corben Shoemaker said, “There were only a couple points at which I was really sweaty. I rank my dance experiences based on how much sweat there is.”
The Prom Court was crowned near 11:00 p.m. Timothy Spaeth and Chloe Shenton were named king and queen. Other seniors on the court included: Margot Baumgartner, Stephanie Frey, Grace Amlung, Alan Smith, Hunter Riportella and Jacob Cox.
Following Prom was “After Prom.” Held at Scene 75 for the second consecutive year, the festivities went on until 4:00 a.m.
“A highlight of my night was winning a $100 Canes gift card,” said Fujimaki.
Prom concluded officially after “After-Prom.” However, some students ventured early into the morning with “After-After-Prom.”
“I had the most fun at IHOP and getting breakfast,” added Pedracolli.
