At MHS, Lurking around every corner is some sort of secret room or weird area where students either don’t want to go or are not allowed to go. Most students don’t know what is back in these areas, so the Warpath created a game to see which of three students knew the school better. Each area will be scored on a scale from one to five: one = clueless and five = spot on. We will start with the door between the gym and weight room.
Jasmine Slavik- “Probably sports supplies.”- Slavik will recieve the full five points as she was completely correct with sports supplies.
Addison Mendenhall- “Janitor’s secret hideout.” – Janitor’s have never been seen entering or exiting this room on a regular basis, but we will give Mendenhall one point for his good faith effort.
Cameron Johns- “Football equipment.” – Johns will receive three because the closet contains some football equipment, but it mostly contains supplies for other sports
This storage closet is full of all the random sports equipment that Nerl doesn’t know what to do with. Among the items are uniforms and sports bags.
Next is the door outside of the main gym next to the coke machine.
Jasmine Slavik- “Janitor closet with cleaning materials.” – Her response was totally wrong, although I do recall coming across a broom, so she will be awarded two points for saying “cleaning materials.”
Addison Mendenhall- “Basement with a bunch of stuff, maybe with some animal skins.” – He had it right, until he veered off track when mentioning “animal skins,” so he will only receive three points
Cameron Johns- “A basement.” – Even though Johns’ response was only two words, it will earn him the full five points on this area
- The basement contains many strange looking objects including two giant boilers with multiple attatchments
When you open this door, you go down a staircase into a large room with two humongous boilers that look like WWII bombs. It took me a minute to find the light switch, and I swear I heard something move down by my feet. Believe me, it is not worth the trip.
Lastly is the door on the inside of the main gym.
Jasmine Slavik- “Maybe it leads to the attic of the school if there is one, and maybe there is some leftover furniture.” – Even though Slavik made a complete guess, you could probably call this area an attic, and I believe I did see an old chair, although I don’t know what it was “leftover” from. She will recieve two points.
Addison Mendenhall- “It goes upstairs and into the equipment room. I have also heard rumors that there are posters of guys in cheerleading outfits on the walls.” – Unfortunately for him, Mendehall Is putting himself in a hole because of his extra comments. If he had stopped after his first sentence, he could have received full points on the last two rooms. Unless he snuck in and ripped the posters down before I entered, his comment will drop him down to just two points for the round.
Cameron Johns- “It goes upstairs to storage.” – Johns continues to dominate the field with his concise answers, but this one will hurt him a little. He just wasn’t specific enough, so will only receive three points.
- A large amount of electric equipment resides behind the door all the way at the top of the staircase.
A staircase leads up to two rooms, one is filled with electric panels, while the other is filled with football equipment.
Final Standings
Slavik- 9
Mendenhall- 7
Johns- 11
Congratulations to Cameron Johns. You officially know the school better than Addison Mendenhall and Jasmine Slavik.
If you are one of those students that has always been wondering what lurks behind these doors, now you know. If you aren’t then I saved you from having to ever think about it.
